Tàn bạo là một tính rất xấu. Người ta đối với kẻ hèn yếu hay giống súc vật, bao giờ cũng phải nhân từ thì mới phải đạo.

Định đánh con chó.
Tiểu dẫn. — Một đứa trẻ tàn bạo.
Một hôm, Định trông thấy
con chó nhà láng diềng chạy vào
nhà mình, nó liền đóng cửa lại,
rồi lấy gậy đuổi đánh. Con chó
kêu rầm lên và chạy đánh đổ
vỡ cả đồ-đạc. Định thấy vậy lại
càng đuổi đánh mãi. Sau con chó
tức lên, nhảy vào cắn chân Định
một miếng thật đau. Định ngồi
ôm chân mà khóc.
